Off the agenda issues create 'uneasy' atmosphere in cabinet meeting | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 2: The first cabinet meeting of the year 2012 saw the coalition partners NC and Congress sharing a common platform together where the ministers of both parties sat and discussed issues in congenial atmosphere.Even as most of the issues were sorted out and decided on a cordial note, sources said some ministers engaged in arguments and difference of opinion over a couple of matters related to governance. Sources said though both the issues over which some difference of opinion was expressed by the ministers were not a part of the agenda, it left some stiffness and unease in the otherwise congenial atmosphere during the meeting in presence of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah . Sources said while the transfers neither in the administration nor in the Police were on official agenda in today's meeting, some ministers put up the matter only to irk the lot from other side. The matter was however put off by some seniors who contended it was no use discussing and arguing over the issues not in the agenda. Sources also said that the issue of funding of madrassas which remained in headlines recently did come up for discussion for a while as some ministers as also the CHief Minister did express some reservations as to what wrong happened and what were the reasons resonsible for such a hue and cry over funding. It was observed that lack of communication between the Finance Department and the Education Department at some levels were the primary cause for uproar over the issue raised by the madrassas. Though not officials, the government has desired to order hold enquiry to know at what levels the communication gap resulted in loopholes in the fund distribution. |
