Cong high command defers 'rotational CM' issue

kishtwar, Jan 2: In order to keep its state unit together in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress party High Commanded deferred the issue of rotational Chief Minister in Jammu and Kashmir for the time being, high placed party sources said further adding it has not ruled out completely.
According to sources within the Congress, said that the party High Command is fully aware about the growing resentment within the Congress party leaders/workers in Jammu and Kashmir who strongly are pushing demand of change of guard in state.
"Party high command after taking views from senior party leaders including JKPCC president, the party has decided to defer the issue of rotational Chief Minister in prevailing situation, but not completely ruled the demand and also has decided to monitor the functioning of coalition government led by Omar Abdullah.
Sources however ruled out the decision for delaying the issue rotational Chief Minister came in wake of threat given by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, who asked the Congress party High Command to clear its stand over the issue.
Pertinent to mention Farooq Abdullah Union Minister for New and Renewable Resources in UPA Government, in his interview with a national news agency bluntly had asked the Congress leadership whether they (Congress) are interested to carry on with the coalition in Jammu and Kashmir or not.
"The decision is taken after weighing the sources situation particularly in the wake of upcoming Assembly elections in five states including Uttar Pradesh where the icon of Congress party Rahul Gandhi is at stake, sources said.
Meanwhile they added Congress High Party has also conveyed a strong message to his alliance partner in Jammu and Kashmir i.e. NC Leadership to overcome with the problem of trust deficit as was alleged by Congress party leaders/workers who accuse Chief Minister and his minister off ignoring the Congress leadership.
"Further to keep its flock together the Congress high command has also decided to drop some of its ministers on non performance basis, sources added.
But whatever the circumstances are, the decision could certainly be termed as a 'a gift to Omar Abdullah' on the New Year especially when several Congress activists and leaders including Former Dy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma were demanding 'change of guard' on the completion of 3 year tenure of Omar led coalition.
