PDP blames Omar for Uri incident
1/3/2012 12:05:22 AM
Early Times Report
srinagar, Jan 2: Condemning the killing of Altaf Ahmad Sood in Boniyar Uri, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mahbooba Mufti said that this is the direct result of Chief Minister's accusation against the people for being responsible for the current power crisis in Kashmir .
Mufti said it is an irony that Altaf was killed near the Uri Hydel Project while demanding electricity. Normally this project should have been supplying uninterrupted free power to the area. "But the NC has gifted these projects to the NHPC , the locals have to fight for even paid facility and face brutality in the process", she said.
She said Omar Abdullah has set govt against the people of the state and instead of reaching out to them and resolving their problems he has created a situation of confrontation between administration and the general public. Today's firing on innocent protesters demanding electricity is a direct consequence of this callous approach.
Mahbooba said the recent visit of Chief Minister to Kashmir seems to have only deepened the crisis facing the valley. His strident remarks on the power situation and his inability to bring improvement in water and ration supplies has pushed the people to the wall. They are left with no option but to protest and the government responds the only way it knows, that is by using brute force.
Expressing deep sympathies with bereaved family PDP President demanded stern action against the officials involved in the killing and asked the govt to provide exgratia to the victims family.
