People friendly initiatives to continue: Nasir | ‘So will killings Mr MoS’ | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 2: Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Monday, wished people of Jammu and Kashmir a Happy New Year and said that people friendly initiatives of the police would continue in 2012 like 2011. "As a result of our combined efforts, there has been discernible improvement in the situation. Cooperation between people and police is must for peace and I hope 2012 will prove watershed year in terms of peace for J&K," Wani said in his new year message. Nobody knew that Nasir's promise of continuing `people friendly' initiatives will be fulfilled the moment his message was being received by the news agency. A protestor fell to CISF bullets at Boniyar. This happens to be the first killing of 2012. Interestingly, the deceased was neither a terrorist nor a stone pelter. He was an ordinary civilian demanding electricity. Normally, in a democracy peoples' right to register protest is upheld. But in this neglected land where the Home Ministry talks about people friendly initiatives, such `accidents' happen. "If people have a right to protest, the men in uniform have a right to fire bullets." Continuing its friendly initiatives, the government will order probe into the killing the findings of which shall never be made public. |
