In search of justice from Haryana Govt | 70 Kashmiri displaced families to seek Sonia's help | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 3:Over 70 Kashmiri displaced families have been moving from pillar to post for the last eight years in search of justice from Haryana Government. These families of Kashmiri migrants, according to the spokesman of the Vitasta Vihar Welfare Society, that had purchased 31.5 kanals of land for constructing 70 small dwellings at Bahadurgarh, have been subjected to severe inconvenience and harassment by the Haryana Government. Chuni Lal, Omkar Nath, Hira Lal and Nirmala, members of the affected families, said that the entire piece of land, measuring 31.5 kanals in Bahadurgah, had been acquired by the HUDA about eight years ago without sanctioning alternate plots where they could construct small dwellings. They said even the compensation amount, fixed by the HUDA, has been too meagre to meet the cost of investment on land. During the last eight years scores of applications were submitted to Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, senior functionaries of the HUDA and top congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Moti Lal Vohra, Makhan Lal Fotedar and Ahmed Patel but till date justice have eluded these displaced families. The society spokesman said that over 18 years ago these 70 families had purchased plots for small dwellings but because of financial problems the construction plan got delayed. However, when they decided to start the construction work they were shocked when they were informed that their plots had been acquired by HUDA. 'Since then we have been approaching senior officials of the HUDA and top congress leaders with the request that developed plots be allotted to us in lieu of land acquired by HUDA but there has been no positive response," said Hira Lal who had spent all his savings on purchasing the plot. He said that the Haryana Government had accommodated members of some displaced families from Omar Nagari in Kashmir by sanctioning developed plots in lieu of land acquired by HUDA but the same facility was being denied to "us." He and others wanted to know from the Haryana Chief Minister as to why his Government was victimising the displaced people from Kashmir when the Congress led UPA Government has been providing a fair deal to them. The Society has decided to send a detailed representation to the AICC Chief, Sonia Gandhi and others in which they would make a final attempt at rousing their conscience so that the displaced families were not given a raw deal.
