| Azad conferred prestigious Swami Vivekananda National Award | | | New Delhi, Jan 12 At an impressive function held at Ashoka Hotel Chankyapuri New Delhi today, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad received the Swami Vivekananda National Award 2006 in the category of ‘statesmanship’ projected by the then Prime Minister of India Mrs Indira Gandhi, the Swami Vivekananda award was constituted by Ramkishna Vivekananda International foundation to recognized contribution of people in different sphere of human development and service to mankind. The board of Jury of the Swami Vivekananda National Award 2006 in its verdict highlighting the statesmanship of Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad mentions him as a kind hearted man towards the needy people of the country which has promoted as Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India to make Mr. Azad the point person for the post quake relief operations in the J&K state. It further mentions of the immense brainpower and all the qualities of a successful and dynamic leadership Mr. Azad possesses who brought happiness on the faces of innumerable people of this country. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Azad expressed his happiness and deep gratitude to the Ramakishna Vivekananda International foundation and said that it is very difficult to find in India a person who has not been influenced by the work and teaching of Swami Vivekananda. He further stated that the Swami Ji would certainly help in achieving the objective of promoting righteousness through development value based leader for promoting prosperity, happiness and peace in the society.
