NMC demands B-1 city status to Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 3:While hailing the decision of the State Cabinet in releasing the pending instalment of 7% DA due from July last in favour of its employees and pensioners, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today described it as employees friendly decision. Shastri also impressed for early regularization of the services of the daily wagers working in various government departments. Addressing a largely attended NMC activists meeting, Shastri further urged Dr Singh to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities of state. He said that giving B-1 P.M status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities. He said since cost of living also increased in Srinagar and Jammu, it will benefit salaried class with increasing HRA and CCA. He said for being given B-1 status both cities have required norms including population. Shastri also demanded grant of disturbed area allowance on the pattern of north eastern state in favour of both central and state government employees, release of wages of motivators working in the IWDP project Akhnoor, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers from 125 to 300 per month besides their regularization, issuance of regularization orders of 180 daily wagers working in the Rural Development Department, enhance the income tax exemption limit to Rs. 1.80 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs regularization of the services of casual labour seasonal labour working in the Public Works Departments and Irrigation Department.
