| Minister's timely action saves life | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 3: The timely action of Minister for Health Sham Lal saved a youth's life who attempted to commit suicide by jumping into river Chenab near Akhnoor.
According to police sources, a youth identified as Mohammad Ashiq, 25, of Kishtwar jumped into river Chenab from the steel bridge, however, at the same moment Sham Lal's cavalcade was passing through it and the Minister noticed the suicide bid.
The Minister immediately asked the police, which in the meantime had reached the spot, to launch rescue operations.
In response, SHO Akhnoor Mahesh Sharma without wasting any time called up the expert divers to flush out the youth from the mighty waters of Chenab.
After hectic efforts put in by the divers, the youth was finally rescued and was flushed out from the water. |
