Mufti's regime was not this dark! | Omar has lessons to learn from PDP | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah camped in Kashmir's saffron town for quite some time to ensure running of the gas turbine. And to feed this white elephant Rs One Crore were sanctioned overnight to quell public anger following killing of a student at Boniyar (Uri) yesterday. Everything in NC run Kashmir is normal as long as people do not get killed. The moment an innocent falls, the administration awakes. And this is exactly what happened yesterday. The people had been protesting shortage of electricity for several days. Nobody took cognizance but when a youth got killed, the Chief Minister sanctioned one Crore and camped for several hours at Pampore to see the gas turbine running. This could have been done a week earlier. The state faces acute shortage of electricity during winter. In Mufti Muhammad Sayed's regime the demand for power was equally high. But he did not wait for things to go out of control. He made electricity available and won wide spread appreciation. Contrary to belief of his opponents, the electricity that he managed somehow did not punch holes in the state's treasury. Kashmir, Omar knows is a volcano that can erupt anytime. The government cannot afford to take liberties like the one it took at Boniyar yesterday. This is where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regime scored a point. Omar has many lessons to learn from PDP. Interestingly Omar had promised free power and cooking gas to the people during electioneering in 2008. |
