| JMC undertakes drive against use of polythene carry bags | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 5:Jammu Municipal Corporation while intensifying and further continuing the drive to implement the ban on the use of polythene carry bags, the Health Officer alongwith with Field Staff conducted an extensive two days long drive and inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Nai Basti, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Greater Kailash, KC Chowk, BC Road etc.
During inspection, the team seized about 220 Kgs of polythene carry bags which were being used by the shopkeepers, vendors and owners of others outlets in these areas.
Besides this, the team also made the people aware of the ban imposed by the state Government on the use of polythene carry bags and they were requested to discard its use and adopt alternate arrangement to carry their commodities as the polythene carry bags are made of non Bio-degradable material and are injuries to health
The drive was conducted under instructions from JMC Commissioner SC Sawhney.
