International KP Youth conference to begin on Jan 7
1/5/2012 10:37:05 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 5:

Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK) under the aegis of Panun Kashmir will hold the 1st International Kashmiri Pandit Youth Conference on January 7 and 8 at Yashwant Rao Chawan Natyagraha, Kothrud, Pune.
Rahul Kaul, chief coordinator of the conference, expressed delight at hosting the conference at Pune. He said that “The event is being held at Pune as the city has traditionally played an important role in the 22 years of Kashmir Pandit community’s struggle in exile. Maharashtra has been the first state to provide educational and professional opportunities to the youth of Kashmiri exiled community post the exodus in 1989/90. Pune, specifically, helped in the grand success of the follow-up programme to “3rd World Kashmiri Pandit Conference”, which was held at Shaniwarwada in 2009.”
Rahul Kaul laid emphasis on the objectives of the conference elaborating that it is being organized to specially consolidate and connect the Kashmiri Pandit diaspora’s youth with their roots, traditions and legacy. A special emphasis will be laid on creating the youth’s sensitivity and responsibility towards national issues. The conference will seek to identify avenues for the youth to contribute back to the society. The conference will also initiate a renaissance movement for preserving rich cultural heritage of Kashmiri Pandits, and will lay a foundation for preparing the future leaders of the community.
The conference will also address the core issues of cultural genocide and historical distortions undertaken by the powers at State and Central level. Exhibitions, Cultural programs, and the glimpses of trail of holocaust heaped on the KP community shall be hallmark of this conference.”
Dr Agnishekhar, Panun Kashmir Convener, announced that a special session, “Jan Sammarthan”, will focus on the support received from non-Kashmiri Pandit organizations and prominent personalities.
