Narwal Mandi sans power, water supply: SRS | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 05: Shri Ram Sena (SRS) today claimed that Vegetable Mandi Narwal, is reeling under acute scarcity of power and potable water but nothing is being done to mitigate it. Addressing a meeting to discuss the problems of the shopkeepers, state president Rajiv Mahajan said that daily thousands of people visit the site but due to absence of proper facilities they are facing lot of problems. Mahajan said that business at Vegetable Mandi, Narwal starts at 3 am daily and thousands of people work there to provide fresh vegetables to the public of whole Jammu and Kashmir state, but it is very unfortunate that Power department curtails power from 5 am plunging the whole area into darkness. He further said that there are only four high mast flood lights out of which only two are functional and two are out of order. He criticized the PDD authorities for power curtailment and that too at a prime time of business. Mahajan termed the curtailment as unjustified and illegal as after installation of electronic meters, curtailment has no meaning. “The supply of water to the area is also not regular and people have to face lot of problems as there always remain shortage of drinking water”, he said. Meanwhile, Mahajan threatens to launch agitation, if the authorities at the helm of affairs did not rectify their respective supplies to mitigate the sufferings of business community.
