| Awareness rally on road safety taken out | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 05- Over 500 of volunteers of NSS, NCC, Civil Defence and students of various schools of Udhampur town today took out a rally to promote the concept of road safety among the people as a part of the 23rd Road Safety Week celebrations in the state. The function was organized by the Motor Vehicle Department Udhampur in collaboration with traffic police at Mini Stadium, Udhampur here.
The District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Mr. P.K Pole who was the chief guest on the occasion formally flagged off the rally from Mini Stadium.
The Principal Degree College, Dr. Nutun Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mr. Shakeel. Ahmed Beig, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Udhampur, S. Swran Singh, Dy SP Traffic, Mr. Adil, Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Mr. Bodh Raj, teachers and students were present on the occasion.The students holding banners and placards on safe driving and against drunken driving which after passing through the main locations of the Udhampur town, finally culminated in the Mini Stadium, Udhampur this morning.
The DDC while speaking on the occasion urged upon the young generation to observe properly the traffic rules while driving and save the precious lives. He asked them to educate their families as well as neighbours about traffic rules to avoid accidents. He appealed the people to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in the implementation of road safety rules. He also stressed for safe driving and said everybody has to abide by the traffic rules to avoid road mishaps.
The SSP Udhampur also spoke on the occasion and stressed the need for observing traffic norms while driving to avoid road accidents. He appealed one and all to come forward and create maximum awareness among the people particularly driver community about the traffic rules.
