Jammu/Dec Dr. Karan Singh M.P. (Rajya Sabha), President ICCR inaugurated "The Splendor of Kashmir" an exhibition of exclusive Kashmiri Shawls at the Claridges Hotel, New Delhi here today.

Karan Singh whilst going around the exhibition highly appreciated the product and efforts by Varuna Anand of showcasing the rich and traditional heritage of Kashmiri craftsmanship depicted through these exquisite shawls.
The former Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir also interacted with a few weavers from Kashmir, who were present on the occasion and encouraged them and wished them well in the future.
The fine art of embroidery from Kashmir on the rich Pashmina shawls needs no introduction, as it has always been one of the most desired textiles from time immemorial, valued by all those with a panache for luxury and elegance.
When asked about, the inspiration behind organizing such events, Varuna Anand said, that it is my earnest endeavor to bridge the gap between the genuine upmarket customer and the sincere weaver from the valley, as some unscrupulous elements have entered this trade and given it a bad name by supplying sub standard products at exorbitant prices.
She says Kashmiri embroidery is an age old art, inspired from the beautiful environs of Kashmir, and comes down generation to generation by these skillful craftsmen, who take great pride in the pieces of art they create.
