| Governor calls for progressive improvement in Yatra facilities, standard dietary prescription for Langars | | Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2012 | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, JANUARY 7 – A 16-member deputation of the representatives of the Shri Amarnath Barfani Langar Organization (SABLO) called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here.
The deputation led by Mr. Vijay Thakur, President and Mr. Rajan Gupta, General Secretary of SABLO, offered various suggestions regarding further improvements in the Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji. The suggestions made by them included, interalia, setting up of additional Toilet Blocks at various Camps, enhancement of sanitation and cleanliness arrangements at the Base Camps and at the Camps enroute to the Holy Cave, widening/strengthening of critical stretches of both the Yatra routes and augmentation of medicare facilities.
The Governor emphasized the need for preparing a standard Diet Chart for the Langar Organizations, which takes into account the nutritional requirement of the Yatris, particularly in view of the high altitude and difficult climatic conditions. The Governor further stressed the crucial importance of maintaining hygienic conditions in and around all Langars, during the entire Yatra period.
The Governor said that the Shrine Board would shortly bring out a Comprehensive Advisory (Do’s and Don’ts) and publicize it widely for the benefit of the prospective Yatris.
Mr. R. K. Goyal, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board and Mr. Preet Pal Singh, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Board, attended the meeting.
