JMC carries out drive against use of polythene carry bags | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 7: To implement the ban on the use of polythene carry bags, the Enforcement Staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) led by Chief Enforcement Officer conducted a drive against the use of polythene carry bags and inspected the shops and other outlets in the areas of Greater Kailash, Bye Pass Road Narwal etc. During the inspection the team seized about 75 Kgs of polythene carry bags which were being used by the shopkeepers, vendors and owners of others outlets in these areas. An amount of Rs. 5600 was charged as fine from 15 defaulters on spot who were using the polythene carry bags. The team also made the people aware of the ban imposed by the state Govt. on the use of polythene carry bags and they were requested to discard its use and adopt alternate arrangement to carry their commodities as the polythene carry bags are made of Non Bio-Degradable material and are injuries to health Besides this, the team removed the encroachment by demolishing the wall which was being raised by encroaching upon part of lane no: 9 Greater Kailash, Jammu and removed the Reharies plying without license / found stationary in the Rehari Free Zone at Gandhi Nagar and seized the Goods / Articles like Utensils, Chairs, Tables, Counters, Stools etc. during the drive. The drive was conducted with the help of Police Force from District Police Lines, Jammu and under instructions from JMC Commissioner SC Sawhney.
