Top gangsters 'waiting' to strike in City, Police launch manhunt | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 7: Hunt is on to nab top gangsters who have started raising their heads once again after long gap, it is learnt. Highly placed sources in police department revealed to ET that "top gangsters involved in separate and several cases of murder and attempt to murder have re-united their group and are waiting to unleash reign of terror among the people to extort money and indulge in other anti-social activities. They are also learnt to have managed unlicensed weapons like country made revolvers and sharp edged weapons to target their rivals." Sources further shared that secret raids have also been conducted in past over one week at all the suspected hide-outs to nab the criminals. Furthermore, daily information is being collected from areas including Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Shiv Nagar, Talab Tillo, Paloura and Janipura as some of criminals (whose names have figured in the list prepared by police) belong to the said areas. "Police are apprehending clashes among the rival gangs, if the alleged criminals are not apprehended timely," indicated sources further adding that "photographs of the wanted criminals have also been circulated among the police stations and police posts, so that the police officers who have been transferred and posted in Jammu for the first time could easily spot the criminals." Though senior police officers are tight-lipped over the issue, reliable sources shared that "verbal directions have been made down the line to maintain hawk's eye vigil in their respective jurisdictions and effort for catching the criminals. Besides in-charge police stations and police posts, directions have also been passed on to the special branch of the district police to collect information about the criminals and apprehend them." As per the information gathered by the police, for the past over an year, the said criminals have gone underground and managed to escape in the adjoining districts like Udhampur, Samba and Kathua and some in the adjoining states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. However, observing that police have stopped following them, the said top gangsters are attempting to re-enter here and start afresh their "business". |
