kishtwar, Jan 8: Chief Minister's aunt and chief of Awami National Conference has accused Omar's timely action could have saved 120 youths during 2010 agitation. Khalida spoke of Early Times in detail. The excerpts of her interview have been published by Early Times during the past few days.
"A person who occupies the top position should not react so casually like Omar Abdullah did", she said. "His three year regime shall be remembered for killing innocent youth in 2010, Shopian Rape case, Hajji Yousf's mysterious death and increase in corruption., she added.
Accusing Omar government of failure to live up to peoples' expectations, she said: "He became Chief Minister from nowhere without any struggle."
She said Omar Abdullah is responsible for the killing of innocent youths in 2010 summer unrest and he (Omar) must come clean by punishing the guilty. "It is the people who give you the vote and not New Delhi and one should look towards the common people", she said.
Khalida said her late husband was forced by the silent National Conference carders to Constitute Awami National Conference after Dr. Farooq Abdullah and his son deviated from the main agenda set by Sher-e-Kashmir at the time of forming of NC.
She said that NC silent carders are the strength of ANC which she headed after the death of her husband. "The aim and object of ANC is to follow the foot steps of her late father for final settlement of Kashmir dispute by taking all the stack holders on board, so that long lasting peace could be achieved in trouble hit state of Jammu Kashmir", she said.
Khalida said due the efforts of her father India and Pakistan signed two historic agreements and came close to settle the dispute. She said that in Tashkent and Shimla Agreement both India and Pakistan agreed to resolve all its outstanding disputes including Kashmir Issue through dialogues in accordance with the chatter set by the United Nation.
She said that her father always pressed the government of India on Kashmir resolution, even though he was inside the jail. "When my father Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was in jail, I used to run the party affairs. My father told me his prime objective was to bring both India and Pakistan close on the table", she said adding " My father believed that was the only way of solving the dispute."
"Time has come for all political parties from Jammu and Kashmir to join their hands and push the government of India for final settlement of Kashmir dispute by taking the people of all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir Viz Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on board", she said.
Khalida believes any delay by New Delhi would have an adverse effect on peace and progress of the state. "Developmental and resolution of long pending Kashmir dispute should move side by side so that the state of Jammu and Kashmir will also move forward on developmental front along with other states of India", she said.
