PDP changed political discourse with just 16 MLAs, NC reversing gains: Mufti | NC never allowed democracy to flourish: Beigh | | ET Report JAMMU, Jan 8: Continuing its political consolidation spree in the winter capital of the state, the PDP today hit out at NC with yet another sarcastic observation contending that the present regime led by Omar Abdullah had only increased and fuelled the alienation of people in contrast to it's (PDP's) pro people agenda that restored their dignity and honour . The PDP leadership went on with a prickly remark that this party initiated and followed with huge success pro peace and pro people agenda with just 16 MLAs whereas NC has miserably failed to do anything and has instead pushed the gains made during PDP regime to wall. This was stated none other than the former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today who attributed the reason of present unrest, alienation and instability to poor governance and trust deficit. He regretted that the present regime headed by National Conference has miserably failed to carry forward the peace and reconciliation process started by the previous PDP-Congress government in the state. Addressing an impressive public meeting at Chatha area to welcome Amrik Singh Reen, who along with hundreds of his supporters has joined PDP today, Sayeed said that with just 16 MLAs in its kitty, PDP had not only changed political discourse of the state but also restored dignity and honour of the people of state by pursuing pro-peace agenda. "The process of reconciliation and to change destiny of the people is still incomplete because the present regime during the last three years has failed to connect itself with the common masses", he said and added that alienation among people have been increasing with every passing day due to widening of the gap between the commoners and ruling elites. "What to say of further consolidating the reconciliatory and peace initiatives made by the previous PDP led government, this coalition regime has even reversed by the whole process through its mis-goverance and mis-deeds", he said and assured that PDP would aggressively pursue the pro-people agenda. "Our party has not only restored peace in the state but also laid strong foundation for accelerating developmental activities in all regions and sub-regions", he said and reminded that it was only during the regime of PDP that equal treatment was given to all regions of the state. Asserting that his aim is not to attain power but to make Jammu and Kashmir as an Island of peace, Sayeed reminded that PDP was formed with the aim to uphold the dignity and honour of the resident of the State. "There was a sense of fear and insecurity among the people when PDP was formed in the year 1999", he pointed out and added that through its pro-peace agenda PDP had not only created a sense of security among the people but also restored dignity of the common masses. "PDP-Congress coalition had not only restored peace in the state but also created conducive atmosphere for accelerating developmental activities in the State", he said and mentioned that a package of Rs 24000 crore was sanctioned for the development of the state during that period "Aim of the PDP is to strengthen emotional integrity among all the regions and sub-regions of the state", he said and called upon the party workers to spread message of PDP in every nook and corner of the state. Responding to the demands of locals, he said that PDP would take effective step to solve problems of the refugees. Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh reminded the gathering that PDP led regime had set an example of good governance and carved out a path of equitable development in the state. Coming down heavily on ruling National Conference, Beigh said that this party was responsible for all problems in the state. He argued that infamous 1987 rigged elections were the main reason of peoples' anger against the system. He said that NC has never allowed democracy to flourish in the state and leadership of NC has always tried to create division among people for petty political gains. |
