| Mangat, Zargar, Rafiq Sadiq pay flowing tributes to G.M.Sadiq | | Galaxy of intellectuals, writers attend Sadiq memorial award function | | JAMMU, Jan 14
Galaxy of Ministers, intellectuals, writers, prominent citizens and other well-known personalities attended Sadiq Memorial function organized by Sadiq Memorial Society here today.
Prominent personalities including Minister for Health and Medical Education, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar, MLA Pattan Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Chairman Sadiq Memorial Society, Mr. Rafiq Sadiq, Ex. DGP Mr. M. M. Khajuria and Mr. Narinder Gulati were present.
On the occasion, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma said that Late Mr. G. M. Sadiq was a real administrator and he has contributed a lot to the state for making it prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he has devoted his life for national integration. His role as an administrator, educationists was worth recognizing and it is our duty to follow his footsteps for the prosperity of the state, he said.
Pt. Sharma said that being a founder member of State Constituent Assembly under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, he has contributed lot for making a strong state and centre relationship. He said, he alongwith Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, Mr. Girdari Lal Dogra and Mr. D. P. Dhar resisted against the fundamental ideology in 1947 and preferred secular ideology in the state, the time has proved his stand and it helped the state to lead on the path of prosperity.
Minister for Agriculture Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar while paying flowing tributes to Mr. Sadiq, described him proud son of the soil and said he and Sadiq had a like minded political ideology and both remained members of State Constituent Assembly. He said that Sadiq also revolutionized the education system in the state to eradicate literacy and backwardness.
Later, the Society accorded the Sadiq Memorial Award to Prof. Zahoor-ud-Din Zahoor, Mr. Arjun Dev Majboor, Padam Shri Mr. S. M. Khajuria, Mr. Mohan Singh, Mr. Jatinder Bakshi, Mr. Raju Kerni, Mr. Rashid Jahangir and Dr. Ved Kumar Ghai.
Others, who spoke on the occasion include, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Chairman Kashmir Times Groups Mr. Ved Bhasin and Mir Poonchi.
