Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 9: Negating the very presence of state congress, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today termed Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz's reshuffle statement 'rumour'.
He made this remark about cabinet reshuffle while talking to reporters during the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of state data centre at Civil Secretariat here. Omar said "No, this is mere a rumour. It is not so (there is Cabinet reshuffle in offing)." He went on to say that it would take place only when the leadership of both the Congress and National Conference come to a decision.
Though Soz being PCC president represents leadership of Congress in J&K, Omar preferred saying that leadership of National Conference (NC) and Congress is yet to arrive to a decision, obliquely referring to Congress high command. "When the leadership of both parties (NC, Congress) will decide, then (till will take place)," Omar was quoted as having said.
He went to say that if someone has problems with his style of working, instead of rushing left and right, he should straightway come to him. "I am here and available," Omar said. He went on to say "We have completed three years. We have seen several goods things and from time to time, we assess our performance. On the basis of that performance, if there is need for a reshuffle, both leaderships of the parties should decide. I am representing both the parties here."
Omar made these remarks while replying to a question of possible Cabinet reshuffle report in the media and statements made by the state congress leadership in this regard. Asserting that expansion of Cabinet of the coalition government in the state was "overdue", Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz had earlier today said reshuffle would take place anytime.
"It (cabinet expansion) is overdue. There would be reshuffle. Expansion may not apply because there is hardly any scope for that. So there would be a reshuffle and that too at an appropriate time," Soz had reiterated while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a the meeting of NC-Cong coordination committee meeting.
