BJP begins intensive grass root exercise | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 9: In a serious initiative to gear up its cadre for the forthcoming Municipal elections, the BJP for the first time began the exercise of holding Working Committee meetings at the mandal level. The first two such meetings were held by Janipur and Gandhi Nagar mandals. BJP National executive member and MLA Ashok Khajuria was the chief guest at Janipur while National Executive Member & Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh was chief guest at Gandhi Nagar. While addressing meeting of Janipur mandal, Ashok Khajuria said that the present government led by Omar Abdullah has proved a failure on all fronts. Its slogans of strengthening the democracy at grass roots level has proved to be an eye wash as it has intentionally delayed the local bodies election for more than one year and held the Panchayat election without implementing the 73rd amendment. In his address at Gandhi Nagar meet, Dr. Jitendra Singh, suggested that a mass awareness campaign was required to educate the public about how the present government had deprived them of genuine political empowerment at grass roots level. He said BJP is the only party which has constantly advocated 50 % reservation for women in Local Urban Bodies and due representation to minorities of the state. These meetings were organized under the guidance of state General Secretary Sat Sharma and District President Rajesh Gupta. |
