BJP alleges scuttling of Lokpal bill by Cong | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 9: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today took out a march to Raj Bhawan here today in protest against Congress for its failure to ensure the passage of Lokpal bill. Led by BJP State General Secretary Sat Sharma, District Jammu Mahanagar President Rajesh Gupta, District General Secretary Jaideep Sharma and BJYM State President Munish Sharma, the party activists staged a protest demonstration against the Congress for deliberately scuttling the passage of Lok Pal Bill in Rajya Sabha. They raised slogans against the Congress-led UPA government for its insincerity in establishing an effective and meaningful Lok Pal in the country. Later, Sat Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Jaideep Sharma and Munish Sharma met the Governor and submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India, for its forwarding to Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. The memorandum gave an account of how UPA coalition government was not able to muster enough support for its toothless versions of Lok Pal Bill and on the contrary majority of Rajya Sabha was clearly going to get a strong Lok Pal Bill passed. A strong and effective Lok Pal not being its agenda, the government therefore engineered disruptions, disturbances through friendly parties and subsequently its members. These disruptions were contrived to earn adjournment so that voting could be avoided and Lok Pal Bill scuttled. By this modus operandi, the government has setup very sad and unfortunate parliamentary precedent.
