'Electoral system is fountain head of corruption' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 9: Chairman, National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh while addressing Maharashtra Panthers Committee in Mumbai described the decision of Chief Election Commission of India to veil the statues of UP Chief Minister Mayawati and Elephants (Election Symbol of BSP) during election campaign in UP as a mockery of electoral system and total failure of the law-makers (Parliament) to make laws to curb electoral corruption in the country. The Panthers Chief told Panthers activists in Mumbai to prepare the people particularly youth and students in the Colleges and the Universities to get ready to lead 'Ultimate Revolution' so that corrupt politicians no more shall hijack the electoral system. He said that the action of CEC to cover the face of an elephant or Mayawati makes the nation laugh and shows helplessness of CEC who is determined to eliminate corruption prevailing in the electoral system. The NPP Chairman called this action of CEC as illegal, unconstitutional and undesirable because this would send a message to the Dalit fraternity which is not the intention of the CEC. This is a tragedy that the Judiciary failed to stop erecting of statues and portrait of elephants which were made by BSP Government at the cost of the state exchequer. How these statues could be made part of corrupt practice for 20 days only during the election campaign when this stand as legitimate work of the government for 4 years and 345 days. Prof Bhim Singh urged Dr SY Qureshi, CEC to reconsider this decision or cover the statues of all the legal in the country during the election campaign. |
