NCC to face Azlan in IHRO T20 title clash | | |  Early Times report
JAMMU, Jan 9: National Cricket Club (NCC), Jammu trounced JKP XI by 27 runs, while Azlan Cricket Club drubbed Patel Cricket Club by a narrow margin of 10 runs in their respective semifinals of the ongoing Twenty20 Cricket Tournament today to qualify for the finals and face each other in the title clash, here tomorrow. Earlier, in the first semifinal played today, National Cricket Club prevailed over JKP XI in a well contested match by 27 runs. Batting first, NCC scored a decent total of 156 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing all the wickets in the process. Ashu scored 32 runs in 26 balls with the help of four boundaries, while Sagar contributed 30 runs including four fours and one six. Nitin Mehra also played brisk knock of 11-ball 20 runs including 3 fours and Puneet contributed quick-fire 17 runs including 2 boundaries and one six. Manish Dogra and Jatin also chipped in with 12 runs each. Shashi Kumar took 3 wickets for JKP XI, while Yasir and Shamsher claimed 2 wickets each. Dhruv Mahajan and Showkat picked one wicket apiece. In reply, JKP XI managed to score 129 runs in 19.1 overs by losing all 10 wickets, thus lost the match by 27 runs. Dhruv Mahajan, though played a superb innings of 48 runs, yet failed to take his side to home. He hit 2 fours and 3 towering sixes in his 35-ball knock. Naresh Kumar contributed 27 runs, while Shashi and Rajesh Gill scored 14 and 11 runs respectively. Rohit Bhat, who otherwise is not a regular bowler, once again proved to be a golden arm by claiming 3 wickets in his four overs, while Deepak Singh Manhas, Nitin Mehra and Ashish captured 2 wickets apiece and Kuldeep took one. Nitin Mehra of NCC was declared man of the match for his all-round display. In the second semifinals played today, Azlan CC defeated Patel CC by a narrow margin of 10 runs in a thrilling contest. Azlan, while batting first scored 105 for 8 in allotted 20 overs. Shahbaz was the top scorer with 30 runs including 4 boundaries, while Muddasir and Zulfikar contributed 11 and 9 runs to the total respectively. Slathia was the pick of the bowlers for PCC, scalping 4 important wickets, while Irshad took 2 wickets. Madan and Sunny claimed one wicket each. Patel Club in reply, bundled out for a paltry total of 95 runs, thus lost the match by 10 runs. Madan and Babbi contributed 27 and 23 runs to the total respectively. Shahbaz wa the wrecker-in-chief for Azlan Club, taking 4 wickets in his four overs by conceding just 16 runs, while Vishal and Muddasir took 2 wickets and Rashid claimed one. Shabaz was adjudged man of the match his brilliant performance. The match was officiated by Satnam Singh Sandhu, Ashok Sharma as umpires, while Gurjinder Singh and Chittu maintained the scorebook. The tournament is being organised by International Human Rights Organisation (IHRO), under the overall supervision of Harpreet Singh, chairman organizing committee. |
