According to sources to ascertain the facts about the scam the enforcement agency conducted an on spot inspection of a fertilizer dealer at Gajansoo last month where the Urea of National fertilizer company was being unloaded from the tractor. While weighing the bags carrying fertilizer the inspecting team found all bags were under weigh by five kgs. While the weight per bag of urea should be 50 kgs, but no bag was found more than 45 kgs while weighing on spot. The total bags carried in the truck were 360 bags and by weighing each bag less by five kgs the total quality less was 18 quintals approximately. This is a serious issue and generated a lot of resentment among farmers and they have demanding unearthing of the scandal involving lakhs and crores of rupees. The BJP MLA from Marh Constituency Ch Sukhnandan who is also a Kisan leader while taking serious exception to selling of underweight fertilizers to farmers has demanded action against the officers and officials of fertilizers agencies involved in the scam. Talking to media persons here today Sukhnandan alleged that National Fertilizers Limited (NLF) in active convenience with JAKFED and Agro Industries development Corporation is looting the poor farmers of the state. He alleged that there is a nexus between these agencies to cheat the farmers. The fertilizers sold to farmers are underweight, he added. Giving details that how farmers of the state are cheated he said the recent raid was conducted in the Marh area by Enforcement of Agriculture Department on his instance and the apprehensions expressed by the people proved true. He said this is not position in Marh area but the fertilizers supplied all over state are under weight. Ch Sukhnandan said that this practice has been in process since long as NFL officials have a nexus with the officials of JAKFED and J&K Agro Industries Development Corporation. He said the NFL is the supplier of fertilizer to the state and each bag is to be weighed 50 kgs. When 18 quintals of fertilizers are short to a single dealer in the state how much pilferage in supply of fertilizers will be there in entire state. Ch Sukhnandan said there are strict instructions that the packed bags can't be hooked. A printed instruction is written on each bag that don't use hooked bags but the officials of supplying agencies throw these instructions to winds. Terming it a big scandal he said that the fertilizer which is taken out of the bag by using the hooks is later sold in black, he said, adding this way the poor farmers are put to a heavy loss. The MLA also demanded an impartial probe between the NFL, JAKFED and Agro Industries Development Corporation.
