Land mafia encroached upon govt land identified for poor

Jammu Jan 9: Jammu and Kashmir State Samaj Sudhar Committee (JKSSSC), Jammu today alleged despite identification of land for home for shelter less the state government has failed to provide rehabilitation to the poor people while land mafia is eyeing upon the prime land identified for the project at Sunjwan.
Mohd Yousuf Wani State President and Mohan Choudhary Chairman, Jammu Division in a press conference said that the Government had identified state land measuring 52 kanals at Sunjwan for construction of a Colony for the poor people and Government took up construction of'700 residential quarters during 2007 which was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Revenue and Relief Minister Raman Bhalla.
"Sadly enough even after a lapse of over 4 years the construction of these quarters has not been completed, they said further alleging that land grabbers have unlawfully and encroached upon the remaining state land but the government has failed to take any action against the encroachers who allegedly have the support of the political leaders."
Wani has further said that the local residents of the area have made a representation to the Dy. Chief Minister Tara Chand apprising him about the facts of encroachments over the government land but nothing has been done despite assurances by the Deputy Chief Minister to deal strictly with the def1lUlters/land grabbers.
Wani further said that the existing Children Grave yard at Sunjwan and land of existing temple has encroached upon by some influential land grabber. JKSSSC has demanded CBl inquiry in this matter.
Commenting upon Lokpal Bill to end corruption, Wani said JKSSSC is committed to get the Lok Pal implemented in the coming Assembly session to curb corruption in the State.
Referring to three years completion of the state coalition, Wani said the Government has failed to come to the expectations of the general masses of the State.
Other prominent members who were present during the conference were Raj Sharma, Narinder Paul Choudhaiy (Nonny), Fiaz Ahmed Malik, Aaz, Rano Muskan Wani, Gh. Mohiudin and others.
