PDP Minority Cell rues neglect of KPs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 10: PDP Minority cell in a meeting held here today at Bohri Talab Tillo under the chairmanship of its president Ashok Bhat has expressed concern that the Kashmiri Pandits are harassed by the present NC - Congress coalition government. More than two decades KPs continue to languish in camps and are forced to live on doles of Rs 1250 per month per person. PM did sanction a rehabilitation plan, but the state government does not have the spine to get it implemented even though the centre govt bears the cost, with the result the rehabilitation plan for KPs continues to remain on paper only. The community that used to corner a substantial share in the govt jobs solely on the basis of merit, today is restricted to just a few hundred members. The last few years we have seen the state govt employing lakhs of youth's across the J&K state but the number of KPs employed remains negligible. It was only during Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's govt that migrant Kashmiri Pandits were treated well. He appointed more than 760 youth in different govt departments, said Ashok Bhat. |
