| Swollen firewood from Rs 100 to Rs 500 per qntl, forces people to protest | | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, Jan 10: As the cost of firewood rises to Rs 500 per quintal from Rs 100 in the town, people held a demonstration against the district administration here today.
People make use of firewood in their houses to keep themselves warm in winters. As a thick layer of snow covered the town, the rate of firewood shot up to Rs 500 per quintal from Rs 100, Bhaderwah development action committee president Imitiazul Rehman Bhat said. He said though people needed firewood as the town was reeling under severe cold
conditions, the forest department did not have any stock of it.
Bhat and his supporters today held a protest in town, asking the authorities concerned to make them available firewood at the earliest.
