With Congress heavy weights 'opting' silence, NC enjoys R&B, PDD portfolios in full swing

Early Times Report
jammu, Jan 10: Even while chief minister Omar Abdullah on Monday cleared the air on cabinet reshuffle and expansion and described the same as 'mere rumour', a simple question of keeping two important portfolios-Road and Buildings and Power Development Departments-within his domain remains unanswered.
Rather no one among Congress heavyweights-be it Saif-ud-Din Soz group or Azad lobby- bothered to intervene and get back the two prestigious portfolios, which as per the agreement are in Congress' kitty.
The direct fallout of keeping a blind eye towards the issue in question is that whatever developmental works related recommendations are being made by NC leadership to the said departments, there is prompt action, while on the other hand the recommendations made by Congress leadership is shelved citing "technical reasons".
Sheer resentment is brewing up among Congress leadership (Minus Congress Ministers) as they are not being listened by the senior officials of said departments and rather delay tactics is being applied on their recommendations. Sources in Congress circle disclosed that "Congress leaders are asking time and again that why the two important portfolios still lying with NC?"
"Though R&B portfolio was given to Congress MLA, G M Saroori but was taken back after his daughters' involvement surfaced allegedly in impersonation case of MBBS examinations but why the additional charge of the said portfolio not given to any Congress minister and why the same was kept at the disposal of NC?" questioned Congress leaders further pointing that "Though Congress MLA from Rajouri District, Shabir Khan has been given the portfolio as Minister of State (MoS) for PDD but still there is no say as important decisions pertaining to PDD are taken in cabinet meeting where chief minister Omar Abdullah heads the said ministry.
The moot question still remains that will Congress assert on getting back the two vital portfolios it was given at the time of the composition of the cabinet three years back when both the parties got equal share in terms of importance of the ministries and departments.
Even as the much awaited and overdue exercise of effecting reshuffle in the Omar Abdullah led council of ministers appears to have been deferred for some time, the two allies and NC and Congress at the high level have started consultations for distribution and sharing of portfolios in the re fashioned order.
Sources say though Congress leaders and cadres down the hierarchy have a strong resentment over NC retaining the two vital portfolios and 'enjoying' on Congress share as well, but there it has not yet been conveyed directly to the Chief Minister nor has been any assertion from the leadership for Congress on getting these back.
Sources said the leadership has been saying it would be conveyed at appropriate time which is at the time of effecting reshuffle as Congress has to accommodate two more ministers in its share in the expansion of cabinet.
Sources said Congress has been feeling lately that NC is delaying the reshuffle for apparent reasons which are why the NC high command in the high level meeting at New Delhi asked for more time in effecting reshuffle.
