'Crisis management' Omar Govt taking credit through illusionary projections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 10: Though Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and National Conference (NC) in general is trying to get credit through much hyped projections to remain in media limelight for visiting the snow hit people of Kashmir Valley after 'weather god' played havoc due to heavy snowfall in Valley and upper reaches of Jammu region but facts are otherwise. Political analysts see through the Abdullah's visit to the Valley and issuance of directives to cut off the power supply to VIP areas including CM's residence as nothing but to gain public sympathy for the dismal performance of the coalition government during last three years in office. It was also an attempt to silent the guns aimed by the opposition parties at the same time, they observed. As the three years of Omar led coalition have passed and the government has been under strong criticism be it summer unrest, or use of hi-tech gadgets in assembly by CM or revealing the name of rape victims or recently the for its failure in punishing the people responsible for mysterious death of his own Party activist Haji Mohammed Yousf Shah. The Chief Minister, who was furious over the killing of a civilian by CISF jawans in Uri last week and making a hue and cry on the killing has not uttered a word of sorrow over the killing of his own party worker who had made startling revelations about the vote for cash scam. Analysts also question where were the law and order agencies when mob was moving towards NHPC Project Uri despite knowing the fact that it has nothing to do with the power supply. Meanwhile some political analysts also questioned 'good gradation' of Omar Government for 'crisis management' by Union Home Minister who finds his feet being dragged in the 2G Controversy with Dr Subramaniam Swamy not missing any opportunity to target PC Chidambaram. Sources said instead of ordering a probe and taking action against his own party men against whom allegations were made by late NC activist to put the records straight so that the people will regain their confidence in the government. At the time of crisis the Omar led government once again adopted 'biased approach' on power crisis or other problems as it showed its seriousness and concern towards valley only and sidelined atypically from the issues of people of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi and Poonch who also faced similar power crisis for three days completely. 'No body from administration bothered to look into their problems nor any such instructions were passed for them, analysts pointed out, further adding that this may go against the party in future. Referring to the reports saying that the Congress high command is equally happy with assurance given by Omar on taking the State unit of Congress into confidence while formulating policies on plans but as there is still vast distance between the cup and one wonders here how come high command sitting in New Delhi weighed the seriousness of the mere assurances from Omar led government. Further commenting on CM's double standards sources said the Abdullah has played a drama to placate his political constituency in Valley while he did not bother for the problems being faced by the people in other regions of the state. Sources said that Congress which is coalition partner of the Omar Government has also drawn flak for not bothering to look into the problems of people in snow bound areas of Jammu region. The Party MLA from Doda Abdul Majid Wani has expressed his grave concern over the failure of the administration in mitigating the problems of the people in snow bound Doda district where the life has been crippled by heavy snowfall. Besides Wani's allegations, some BJP leaders from the area alleged due to lack of communication the essential commodities prices have sky rocketed in the snow bound areas and the state administration is totally irresponsive to all this. Meanwhile observers also observed that Omar led Government is said to take credit of solving peoples' problems in Valley while normal life came to a stand still for three days due to heavy snowfall has tried to portray itself more 'sympathetic and supportive' through illusionary projections in media limelight to give an impression that Congress High Command which as expected taking it as evidence showered applauds to Abdullah Government's style of working when facts are totally otherwise. |
