early times report
REASI, Jan 11: Bowlers ruled the roost as Jyotipuram Cricket Club (JCC) thrashed Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Reasi easily by 9 wickets in a low scoring match to move into the second round of the ongoing Reasi Cup T20 Cricket Tournament 2012, organised jointly by Reasi Cricket Club and Jammu-Kashmir Police (JKP), Reasi at Sports Stadium, here. Earlier, YSCC Reasi won the toss and elected to bat first, but lost the initiative of wining the toss as the batsmen failed to negotiate the rival bowlers, who bowled with disciplined line and length and got the wickets at regular intervals, to bundle out the whole team for a paltry total of 50 runs in 13 overs. Extras contributed highest 20 runs, while none of the batsmen managed to cross the double figure mark. For Jyotipuram Cricket Club, Sunil, Manni, Shiv and Ram Singh captured 2 wickets each.
In reply, JCC rode on a power-packed knock of 33 runs by Suman to reach the required target in just 5.2 overs by losing one wicket and won the match by 9 wickets. Suman scored his runs in just 10 balls by smashing five boundaries and two massive sixes. Danish also contributed unbeaten 18 runs to the total. For his quick-fire innings of 33 runs, Suman of JCC was declared man of the match. Now, Jyotipuram Club will face ACC Udhampur in the next round, here tomorrow. Meanwhile, the tournament is being conducted by the organizing committee including Nadeem Bhat, chairman, Vikas Sharma and Vikas Baru.
It is pertinent to mention here that the winner of the tournament will be awarded with a cash prize of rupees 1,000,00 (one lac), while the runners-up team will be receiving a cash prize of rupees 50,000. The man of the series award will be 25,000. 32 teams drawn from all over the state and some players from adjoining states are participating in this sporting extravaganza.
