| Dilawar calls for proper exploitation of ground water | | | JAMMU, Jan 14 The Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir today directed the engineers to conduct a thorough survey of the kandi areas of Vijaypur and Bari Brahamana to provide irrigation tube-wells at appropriate locations he said main emphasis should be to provide irrigation facilities at the tail end areas. Speaking at a public meeting at Teli-Basti Vijaypur here today, the Minister said provision of adequate irrigation facilities was essential for boosting agriculture production and every possible measures should be taken to exploit ground water resources to augment irrigation network in the state. The Minister of State for Education S. Manjit Singh, Chairman Municipal Committee Bari Brahaman, Chief Engineers of Irrigation, Flood Control and PHE and Rawi Tawi Irrigation, Jammu and concerned officers were also present. Directing the engineers and field staff to reach out to the people in backward and hitherto neglected rural areas, the Minister asserted that there could not be compromise with the interests of the people. He said engineers and officers should not show urban centric attitude and make endeavors to serve rural population which has high expectations with the government. Seeking people’s cooperation in implementation of various welfares scheme and developmental programmes, the Minister called for adopting austerity while using drinking water and electricity. He said availability of funds would not be allowed to come in the way of development. S. Manjit Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the Coalition government. He said remarkable development took place in the state during last 3 years, which could not be possible during last 50 years The Minister were given a warm welcome on their arrival in the village
