PDP terms Omar's visit to Kishtwar, Doda a political gimmick | Demands regular air service from Kishtwar to Jammu | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Jan 12: Senior PDP leader and former District President PDP Kishtwar Shakir Hussain Siddiqui termed the recent visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Doda and Kishtwar District as merely a political gimmick to befool the general public of twin Districts. Siddiqui said that Omar did not bother for the stranded passengers as Kishtwar-Jammu National Highway is closed due to heavy snow-fall as most of the passengers have no money even to purchase food. Siddiuqi said that there is great scarcity of cooking gas, fire wood, kerosene oil and other essential commodities and urged the Government to airlift the same to the far flung areas of Kishtwar and Doda Districts. He demanded that Air - service shall be started from Kishtwar to Jammu twice a week so that the people of the area may not feel any difficulty in getting necessities of life there. "In most of the far flung areas the power supply has not been restored so far which needs to be done on the war footing, beside GREF authorities be directed to take care of Batote-Kishtwar road so that it should be made traffic-worthy," Siddiqui said. He said that the Government has failed to prepare pre-disaster management plan well in time. "The road traffic should be restored on priority basis and the Government must take emergent measures." Siddiqui added. He also demanded that regular air-service may be provided to the inhabitants of Marwah, Dachhan, Padder and Warwan areas of Kishtwar as these far flung areas generally remain cut off with rest of the state during the winter season. |
