| BJP, BSP panches join Congress at Amb-Gharota | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 12: As many as 15 people including panches belonging to BJP and BSP joined Congress under the leadership of Madan Lal Sharma, Member of Parliament, Jammu-Poonch constituency at Amb Gharota in Raipur-Domana.
Madan welcomed the entrants and assured them that under the banner of Congress, they and their area will grow into a developmental hub. He also wished good health and his heartfelt greetings on the occasion of New Year and Lohri.
He also appealed the J&K government to enhance the wages of nambardars and chowkidars and fix some honorarium of panchayati raj functionaries to inculcate their interst in the development of their panchayats and wards.
Madan assured the gathering that Congress wishes to implement 73rd and 74th amendments.
He while raising the issue of Ex- servicemen, wanted the state government to take up the exemption of VAT on canteen items. He also showed his concern for the non seriousness of government about solving the long pending issues of refugees of 1947, 1965, 1971 and Pak- west refugees and demanded that their grievances be addressed on top priority. He also sanctioned a transformer of more capacity costing Rs. 200000 and directed the PDD officials to install the same within 15 days. |
