Govt committed to build 1788 new buildings of “Panchayat Ghars” | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 12: After successfully holding Panchayati Raj elections the rural development and Panchayati Raj Department has set itself the target of building 1788 new Panchayat ghars in the state. According to the recently released report of the Rural Development department there are 2340 Panchayat ghars which have their own building, 1603 Panchayat ghars need repair and 1788 new buildings are required to be constructed. According to the report out of 119 Model villages which were taken under the Prime Ministers reconstruction programme work on 115 have been completed during the last three years and the remaining four will be completed during the current financial year. The performance report said under Indira Awas Yojana 49246 new houses were constructed over the last three years and 26538 houses have been upgraded. The report claimed that this is all time high achievement of the department as compared to previous years. Referring to the total sanitation campaign the report said the department is implementing two most important schemes namely Total sanitation camapign and water sanitation programme. According to the report a sum of Rs 13448.84 lacs have been released for the project. |
