SMC suspends 6 employees, terminates 2 | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has suspended its six employees while two casual workers were terminated from their services after an inquiry established their alleged involvement in a fraud worth crores. "The inquiry was ordered by Commissioner SMC. He said the six suspended employees have also been charge-sheeted while the two casual workers have been terminated from the service." The action against the six employees name as Basharat Ahmed- Senior Assistant, Khurshid Ahmed- Junior Assistant, Javed Ahmed- Junior assistant, Mohd Hussain (Class IV), Lassa Sheikh and Riyaz Sheikh (Sweepers) were suspended and other two Feroz Ahmed Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmed were terminated. Some of the clerks of SMC in the tainted list were found having Rs 1.33 Crore, Rs 71 lakhs, Rs 43 and 17 lakhs in their accounts, which were disproportionate to their known sources of income, the report claimed. The case has been referred to Director Audit and Inspection, Finance Department for detailed audit of the accounts of Srinagar Municipal Corporation, so that the actual quantum of fraudulent payments is ascertained, SMC officer said. |
