| 5 Questions | | Prof. Lokesh Verma, Controller of Examination, Jammu University (JU) | | Q1: Why there is an uncertainty over the declaration of both the Post Graduate and Under Graduate examination results? A: There is nothing uncertain about the declaration of both graduation and post graduation results. Barring few, most of the post graduate results have been declared and very shortly we are going to declare the remaining ones also. As far as, under graduate results are concerned, they are well on their time. Tentatively, the result of Graduation 1st year is scheduled to be declared on Aug 5th and Graduation 2nd year by the end of August. Q2: Examination Section is vital one in a University. So, which steps are on the anvil to improve the system in the examination section? A: It’s absolutely true that examination section is vital one in a University. Lot depends on the performance of this section. From the very first day, I had made it clear to everybody that there is no room for slackness. In order to overhaul the entire examination section, computerization process in a big way is on the anvil. With the computerization, sea changes are expected in this section.
Q3: After the marks tampering episode in JU, people start doubting over the credibility of examination section. What are your initiations to retain the faith of students on the entire system? A: That was the most unfortunate incident in the history of JU. After that episode we have initiated certain measures to tighten noose around such elements if any. The system was already fool proof but, it has been made much more secure. We have placed some of the most trusted persons on such confidential positions to prevent such episodes.
Q4: It has been seen that some agents approaches the unsuccessful students and assures them of getting their job done through bye pass. Is there any possibility of such a thing? A: It’s really surprising that students are felling prey to such elements. These agents are only minting money on the fake assurances, as there is no such possibility. It’s the most impossible thing to do. If such a person is brought to our notice, we’ll definitely initiate action against him. Otherwise, we can only advice to the students to keep themselves away from such elements. Q5: “Unfair Mean Committee” is also one of the controversial areas. How do you ensure its credibility? A: Due care has been taken to select the members of this committee. All the selected committee members are trusted ones and we have no doubt over their credibility. The committee for both under graduates and post graduates are consisted of three members each. So, it’s again very difficult for any one of them to take the decision single handedly.
