Ex-serviceman Roshan Lal, hailing from Pehmasa village falling under Tehsil, Thathri of Doda district has not stopped cursing his fate for the last three days. On January 10, when his youngest son Rajinder Singh was returning home from nearby forest area he stumbled upon a live electric wire and suffered electric shock. As his health condition deteriorated he was rushed to Doda and from there he was shifted to Jammu Medical College Hospital on January 11. Since then Rajinder's condition is going from bad to worse and now doctors treating him are planning to amputate his right arm on Saturday. The aggrieved family members of Rajinder Singh, surrounding him in the hospital ward are holding the officials of the Power Development Department responsible for the accident. The family members said ever since the power lines were snapped due to heavy snowfall in the area, the PDD officials were receiving flak from the local residents. The entire area was blackened for over three days and when the Chief Minister carried out a whirlwind visit to the area, the authorities rushed to do the cosmetic repair work on the broken down live wires. Roshan Lal said when the area was witnessing regular snowfall and several electric poles were down who gave the permission to the PDD staff to switch on the power supply. Arti Devi, close relative of Rajinder Singh, said my brother has lost every thing in the accident. He won't be able to lead a normal life with amputated limbs. The state government should duly compensate him and punish the guilty officials of the PDD department. |
