| Mantoo a pillar of progressive Urdu short stories | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 13:- "The contribution of legendary Urdu Short Story writer of sub-continent Sadat Hassan Mantoo in the development of Urdu short story could not be ignored. He was a pillar of progressive Urdu short stories who was impressed by Russian short story writer like Gocol and Gorke in his early age. Later he was associated with progressive writers movement and under the influence of this movement he presented unique themes in short stories. He wrote short stories on the relationships of man and women, sex and psychology".
These views were expressed by the illustrious speaker in the two day National Seminar on the life and works of Sadat Hassan Mantoo. The two day Jashan-e- Sadat Hassan Mantoo is being organized by the department of Urdu, University of Jammu in collaboration with Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society and Anjuman-e-Tareeqi Urdu Hind. The Minister for Higher Education Jb Abdul Gani Malik inaugurated the Jashan.
Speaking in the seminar Prof. Sageer Afraheim from Aligarh Muslim University congratulated the department of Urdu for organizing the two day National Seminar on Sadat Hassan Mantoo. He said that Mantoo is a towering Urdu Short Story writer of Urdu world. He was Kashmiri and it gives him pleasure that centaury celebrations started from the state from where Mantoo belongs. He said that Mantoo wrote tremendous short stories. Prof Shohab Inayat Malik HOD Urdu presented vote of thanks. He thanked all the out stationed participants who made this two day Jashan successful. Prof. Shohab while paying tributes to Mantoo said that Sadat Hassan Mantoo is the pillar of Urdu short story. He has his own style of writing which impressed the common readers. The two day Jashan-e- Sadat Hassan Mantoo was organized by the department of Urdu, University of Jammu in collaboration with Rasa Javeedani Memorial Literary Society and Anjuman-e-Tareqi Urdu Hind. The Jashan includes two day National Seminar on the "Life and works of Sadat Hassan Mantoo", a stage play on Mantoo's life and works.
, a two day National Urdu Book Exhibition and a Sham-e-Afsana. Educational publishing House Delhi Aligarh and Qasmi Kutab Khana Displayed various book of Sadat Hassan Mantoo and books written on Sadat Hassan Mantoo in the book exhibition. A large scale of Mantoo lovers purchased books in the book exhibition. |
