Walk with extra care, doctors to people | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 13: As Kashmir battles one of the harsh winters in more than a decade, the doctors here have advised people especially children and elders to take extra care while walking on the roads or venturing in gardens in order to avoid fall. Deputy Medical Superintendent of Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla, Dr Sayeed, says there has roughly been ten per cent increase in the number of patients visiting the hospital after fall while walking following seasons first snowfall last week. "People especially elderly and children should take extra precautions so that they dont fall while they venture out in garden or the market and more particularly during morning and the evening hours when there is icy surface," he said. He said that the most of the "traumatic cases" reported in the hospital since January 7- when snow accumulated on surface- suggesting the patients had slipped in garden or the road. Most of them had arm bone fractures, he said. The Deputy Medical Superintendent said people should take medical attention immediately if they fall to avoid any complications. "A layman cant judge if there is a fracture or not. As such people should visit nearby doctor or hospital where we have facility of x-ray and qualified doctor available who examine the patient and advise them accordingly he said . |
