STG Reasi stages "Ek Dhoop Saphed Si" Play at Abhinav Theatre

JAMMU, Jan 13:-Sangam Theatre Group, Reasi performed Hindi play 'Ek Dhoop Saphed Si' in the premises of Abhinav Theatre, Jammu today in collaboration with of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu presided over the function. Ravi Sarangal, Commissioner of Income tax, Jammu and Kashmir were also present on the occasion. In this play too the writer has proved himself by knitting a story revolving around the plight of a couple whose son has gone abroad and has come to them after a gap of fifteen years due to his business concern. Old Husband and Wife try to please their son by sharing family talks and by offering different types of dishes to him but he does not pay much attention to them and make a fun of them calling 'old and outdated'. During the night going to follow by the next day morning the son has to return to Abroad, the old couple decide to kill each other by collapsing their hands on other's neck. But they become unable to do it as they love each other from the bottom of their hearts. They decide to consume poison together so that no one can see other's dead body and their son may perform all the rituals for the funeral of their dead bodies. Old lady sees poison in her hands and recalls her child's voice asking her "Maa, Maa." She takes a firm decision and throws away the poison. She also snatches poison of her husband's hands and throws it too. Old man gets astonished at this act of his wife. Lady asks him why to consume poison and for whom. They will live their own life. Man gets happy and says to his wife that he is proud of her. The play is a unique one in its treatment. The dialogues are very impressive and powerful. The play has been directed by Rajesh Raina. Santosh Sangra and Rajesh Raina performed the roles of old lady and man. Sangra gave a beautiful performance. She played the role of a broken lady and a firm determined lady very well. It was surely her best performed play. Rajesh Raina once again set an example by providing his flawless acting. His expressions were so real and impressive that one cannot even guess that he is not an old man in original. Music of the play was given by Sh. Sunil Sharma. Set was designed and managed by Sh. Akram Khan. Make up was of Sh. Shammi Dameer and costumes were designed by Smt. Parveen Akhtar. Lights were executed and managed by Sh. Jai Ram. The play was written by Rajneesh Kumar Gupta who has already written more than twenty stage plays in Hindi as well as in Dogri languages and always conveys a social message through his plays.
