Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 14; Hindu bodies have today categorically refused to accept any change in the holy Amarnath yatra of this year and warned the government against creating any controversy in this regard this year again.
In a meeting of Shri Baba Amarnath & Shri Baba Buda Amarnath (SBASBBA) Yatri Niyas here today, the members asked the government to refrain from creating the controversy on the date of the yatra this year and it should commence from traditional date of Jaishtpurnima.
The meeting besides the yatri Niyas members was attended by its associates members. It expressed grave concern over the delay in announcement of date of annual yatri for Swami Amarnath Ji for this year by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) for this year. It said despite a Subcommittee was constituted by SASB, headed by Shri Shri Ravi Shankar Ji to decide about the duration of Yatra and it had to submit its report by 15th December 2012 but till date no head way was made in this regard.
All the representatives of associate member organisations urged the SASB to take the decision by 15th December 2011, as it was decided that this committee would submit its report by this date by deciding about the duration of the coming Amarnath Yatra as this sub-committee was constituted for this very purpose only. The Yatri Niyas has regretted that the delay in announcing the schedule of Shri Amarnath Yatra by SASB shall affect the coming yatra in 2012.
The Niyas decided that it will write an open letter to the Chief Minister to make necessary arrangements regarding the coming Amarnath Yatra 2012 as Niyas doesn't want to be dragged into any kind of controversy like previous year regarding the commencement of Shri Amarnath Yatra .It has asked the Chief Minister to make the necessary arrangements for starting the Amarnath Yatra from the auspicious Jayeshth Purnima which is falling on 4th June in the year 2012.
The meeting, which was chaired by Surinder Mohan Aggarwal said that the arrangements shall be made in a manner to attract more and more devotees for this year's Amarnath yatra. Almost all of them had the same opinion, that the increased number of pilgrims will bring economic prosperity for the people of the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular, as the increased number of the devotees of Mata Vaishno-Devi, which has crossed the 1 crore figure and has transformed the lives of people in Katra, and hence contributed a lot thereby in the economy of the State.
Though today's meeting was called to discuss about the coming yatra ofShri Amarnath Ji in 2012, yet BABA Yatri Niyas has congratulated H.E.,the Governor of J&K State, N.N. Vohra, who is also the Chairman ofSMVDSB on this remarkable achievement in the silver jubilee year of SMVDSB after its formation by the then Governor of J&K State Sh.Jagmohan in the year 1986. BABA Yatri Niyas also wants to congratulate all the officials of the SMVDSB who have served during these 25 years after its formation for putting up their best efforts for raising the infrastructure which could accommodate almost 7 percent increase of the devotees in the last 25 years and which can also facilitate as much as 1 Crore pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi in a single year.
