Police arrests 'militants' involved in attack on TA personnel

Srinagar, Jan 14: Police claimed to have arrested three members of a militant gang involved in the attack on an army man in north Kashmir's Naidkhai village of Bandipora district.
A police spokesman said on November 24 last year a gang of militants struck in Naidkhai Bus Stand and resorted to indiscriminate firing on TA personnel Reyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi of Hurpora Naidkhai.
"In the incident two more civilians were injured. Police and 13 Rashtriya Rifles swung into action and cordoned off the area. While the injured was shifted to hospital, a hunt was lunched against the militants involved in the act.
The scene of crime suggested, that act was done by some professional and daring criminal as such the indicators pointed towards released militants and criminals," he said.
The spokesperson said number of such characters were called in Police Station and examined thoroughly. "The clue struck on January 10 when name of one Tariq with militant background surfaced in the act of terrorism. The above said suspect was called and interrogated who divulged that he along with Mohammad Yousaf Dar, Ghulam Mohd Wani both residents of Pushwari and Ghulam Hassan Wani, resident of Naidkhai hatched a criminal conspiracy prior to Eid to eliminate force personnel. Subsequently on November 24 at about 6:30 PM, they found Lone in the bus stand and shot him on his face causing sever injuries to him along with other two," he added.
Police have arrested all members of the gang except Dar and weapon of offence has been recovered.
"Tariq Wani and Ghulam Mohammad Wani are also involved in militancy related incidents in Srinagar, Sopore and Sumbal where case FIR No. 32/2007 under section 307-RPC, 7/27 A Act- police station Marajgung FIR No. 160/2006 under section 7/25 A Act- police station Sumbal are registered against the duo. They had been previously detained under PSA as well," he claimed.
