GDC Kathua organizes symposium | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Jan 14: A symposium was organized in Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua to celebrate the 149th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The topic of the symposium was "Relevance of Swami Vivekanand's Ideology in Modern Times". Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The function started with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the MP. NCC Cadets offered Guard of Honour to welcome the chief guest.In his welcome address Principal of GDC Kathua, Dr. Nater Singh gave a biographical sketch of Swami Vivekananda. He asserted that the whole life of great saint was full of inspiring events. This spiritually elevated great man preached and propagated the rich spiritual heritage of India worldwide. Fourteen speakers from various colleges expressed their views on this occasion and paid a rich tribute to this eminent and exalted son of India. Ch. Lal Singh in his address highlighted the spiritual achievements of Swami Vivekananda. He said that such personalities have established the national character of India worldwide. Asserting that students are the future of India, he advised the students to purify their thoughts to build up their character. He enthralled the audience by some humorous but meaningful anecdotes. Prizes were given to all the speakers by the chief guest.
