Sagar sounds ‘democratic’ over Mirwaiz criticism | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 14: Responding to Mirwaiz Umer Farooq's statement criticising the government for failure to provide basic amenities of life to the people, the Law Minister, Ali Muhammad Sagar said the government welcomed healthy criticism. Sagar, political circles believe is trying to project a `democratic' posture of the National Conference government. However in actual practice, the National Conference believes in dictatorship, ruthlessness and anarchy. Sagar is in no position to take action against the Mirwaiz. The cleric is too strong for him. Even the Chief Minister will think hundred times before proceeding against the Mirwaiz. Had the criticism come from some weak quarters, the person would have been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) for endangering the security of the state. He said that immediately after Mirwaiz's statement, Minister for CAPD took stock of the situation. So nice of the CAPD Ministwr, Sagar Sahib. Had he discharged his duty and undertaken the visit well in time, Mirwaiz would not have criticised the government at all. This reflects that the NC government moves when it is made to move by a strong person like Mirwaiz Umer Farooq. Sagar said there was no dearth of essential commodities in the Valley. For Sagar's information, the Valley is facing acute shortage of cooking gas. A cylinder is sold at Rs 530 in black. There is shortage of mutton and vegetables as well. Sagar, as reported has axed some officials. The axe always falls on small fish and the big sharks are not only spared but patronized as well. At times they are punished with promotion. |
