| Farmers urged state govt in combating 'Yellow rust'. | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 14: Farmers of Rajouri area have urged State Government and Agriculture department to help them in the best way they can to fight against dreadly 'Yellow Rust' disease of crops especially of wheat.
Last year during the season of wheat croping, this dangerous disease got spread on large scale in various areas of Rajouri district which resulted a huge loss of agricultural economy in the area.
After a break of some time, this dangerous agricultural disease has again started to show its presence in some areas of district and chances of loss to wheat crop in this year has started to emerge. Talking with ET farmers of the area said that they again fear to loose their productivity to a larger extent if this highly dangerous crop disease is not controlled from spreading. These farmers also urged the machinery of Agriculture department and State as well as Central Government to provide them Yellow rust- controlling, killing and preventing medicines for a healthy agricultural productivity and for well balanced condition of seedlings of present field crop 'wheat'. They also said that already in the last year, they have suffered a huge loss in agricultural productivity of wheat crop due to same disease.
When a higher official of Agriculture department was contacted in this matter, he said that department has already geared up in prevention and fight against this crop affecting crop. He added that Agriculture department has printed a pamphlet containing all the necessary information about 'Yellow rust' including its causes, prevention, control measures etc.
He also assured the farmers of the area that Agriculture department will always be ready to help them in the best way. |
