Part of Republic Day celebrations

Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 14: Jammu Police seems to have re-started its "seasonal business" of frisking, checking of vehicles and also removing tinted glasses from the vehicles.
Thanks to forthcoming Republic Day celebration on January 26th.
Amazingly, once the celebrations will pass peacefully and without any occurrence of violence related incident, the things are back to square, with frisking and checking of vehicles off the road and tinted glasses and Z-black sheets back on the window panes of numerous vehicles.
Furthermore, no police personnel right from senior officials to Station House Officers (SHOs)/ in-charge Police Posts are bothered to check the said un-lawful activities once the Republic Day ends. However, the same frisking and checking with re-emerge, mere a fortnight before Independence Day celebrations i.e. August 15th.
Reliable sources in police department disclosed that "new Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Parbhat Singh has passed clear directions to all SHOs/ in-charge PPs to maintain hawk's eye keeping in view January 26th. The day, he took over the new task, he chaired a late evening meeting of subordinate officers and directed to raise Naka points and check every vehicle to ensure peaceful celebration on Republic Day. Besides, additional contingent of police have also been deployed in the jurisdictions of different police stations."
Sources further informed that "following instructions from SSP, the North, South as well as Rural wings of Jammu police have started proper checking of vehicles. SPs, SDPOs and SHOs were seen standing on several checking points ensuring removal of tinted glasses and seizure of four wheelers and two wheelers without Registration Numbers. Within two, three days at least police have removed at least 300 tinted glasses from the vehicles."
"We cannot comment anything on the issue as we have to obey the orders of our seniors. Another thing for to carrying out checking of vehicles on daily basis is acute shortage of manpower. We have to see and investigate the complaints we receive daily basis. If appropriate Nafri is provided to every police station and Police Posts, the job can be carried out on daily basis," said a police officer while pleading anonymity.
