Govt response anaemic, colossal failure: PDP
1/15/2012 12:22:01 AM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 14: Lambasting the sloppy response of the govt towards ongoing crisis, the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) said today that govt has deliberately chosen to remain callous to the sufferings of people, as the situation on ground has deteriorated from bad to worse. The PDP General Secretary, Mohd Dil awar Mir, while rubb ishing the govt claims of normalising the situation, said that the govt response to snowfall has been so anaemic that one might think that 20 feet of snow has fallen instead of three inches.
Mir said that official machinery of the govt has altogether collapsed resulting in a chaos like situation that has brought life to a complete standstill. Mir said that the turtle approach of the govt has only deepened the crisis as basic amenities such as LPG, kerosene, ration have altogether disappeared or have skyrocketed, thereby perpetuating the peo ple's problems, who have been already suffering due to acute power shortage amid the bone biting cold. Calling the govt response a "colossal failure," Mir said the tall promises of the administration to remove snow from the roads has proved to be farce as many far flung areas are still cut off and without electricity. He said the incompetence of ruling dispensation can be gauged by its failure to at least caution people while travelling on the frost and snow clad roads and highways, which so far have claimed precious lives that otherwise could have been completely saved. On the top of this crisis, Mir said, the govt has failed to check black marketing leading to further inflation and burden on the common man who is already suffering because of NC govt's shoe shine policies. Govt has only allowed black marketing to flourish as its officials are hand in glove with the unscrupulous elements to take undue advantage of the situation, Mir added.
