CPI(M) for sensitization of administration in the wake of snowfall | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 15: CPI(M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami has urged the government to sensitize the administration for restoration of essential services and ensuring availability of daily needs to the people of the valley and parts of Jammu that have experienced heavy consecutive snowfall. In a statement issued here today , Tarigami said that the valley and parts of Jammu have witnessed second snowfall in just weeks time and the administration at all levels has no excuse to have been confronted with a difficult challenge as it has been engaged with restoration of traffic and essential services due to the recent snowfall. He said that all agencies be geared up to work in tandem to provide succor to the people and prioritize the restoration of essential services as per their needs. With the blockade of Jammu Srinagar NHW for quite some time, scarcity of essentials could lead to price hike and profiteering by vested interests which could be averted by proper vigilance and monitoring of Public Distribution System (PDS), mostly in rural and far flung areas that have got cut off due to snowfall. The control rooms as claimed to have been set up at all District levels should ensure coordination among the field agencies to come to the rescue of the people. He further said that restoration of road communication be taken on priority so that essentials could be moved to needy areas and the traffic management should adhere to a strict policy for ensuring jam free plying of vehicles on the Jammu Srinagar NHW in the wake of snowfall. It has been observed in past few days that due to laxity on the part of traffic management, the passengers have been put to avoidable hardships and supplies to valley have also got halted or delayed on the highway. |
